Description

This award has been developed by the employment NTO and it replaces the D32/D33.  The unit is appropriate for you if your role involves assessing candidates against agreed standards using a range of methods, planning assessments with candidates and giving feedback to candidates on your assessment decisions.  You will need to meet the occupational competence required as set out in the assessment strategy for the NVQ you are assessing.  You will also need to have access to at least two NVQ candidates.

The unit comprises four elements as follows:

• developing plans for assessing competence with candidates
• judging evidence against agreed standards to make assessment decisions
• giving candidates feedback and support on your assessment decisions
• contributing to the quality assurance process

Upon completion of the course you can possibly progress to study the V1 Conduct Internal Assurance of the Assessment Process course.

Teaching and Assesment

The qualification will be gained through one-to-one assessment in your workplace and at college.  A range of methods may be used including observation of work products to confirm your competence.  Another method of assessment will include professional discussion to confirm your understanding of the underpinning knowledge relating to these tasks.

Entry Requirements

This course may involve regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults (also known as regulated activity).

All students applying for this course will be legally required to register with the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) which is administered by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). The ISA has recently been established as a single agency to monitor all individuals who want to work or volunteer with vulnerable people. Registration with the scheme will cost £64 (as of April 2009) and is a one-off payment which will cover both the cost of registration and a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Following successful registration you will be issued with an ISA Registration Number which will stay with you for the rest of your career. The College will send further instructions on registering with the VBS as part of the admissions process.
